Moss Games at Annecy!
We went to the Annecy International Animation Film Festival 2025!
And what a trip it was.

We organized this trip ourselves along with classmates for our animated cinema studies; there we participated in conferences, preview-showings, many activities and even outdoor screenings.

At first, we were taught the festival’s traditions for screenings being:
- Screaming LAPIIIINNN! (it means rabbit in French) Whenever a rabbit appears on screen
- Making bubbles sounds with our mouth whenever a movie / trailer transitions to another. (We’ve heard this one was coming from a poor soul desperatly trying to get his USB port to work)
- Making tiny airplanes and throwing them as close to the screen as we could (prepare for a round of applause if you succeed to touch the screen)

We’ve met countless awesome people and got inspired a lot with what we saw.
The Arcane tent was one of those awesome, inspiring places to be as 3D artists.
They shared how they made their environments, characters and animations; shared early concepts and storyboards as well as gigantic artworks.
And also (for the fans out there) some original drawings that were used in the serie.
We visited the ARTE bus too and it’s where we learned that ARTE had a video game branch. We had the opportunity to test one of the game they supported! (They also gave us some goodies)

Our favorite part was the conference led by Epic Game’s Unreal Team about their new rigging features, hosted by Chase Cooper.
We talked with him and learned a lot about their new features and how to use them as an Indie game studio.
We also joined another conference hosted by the Unreal team that was also very interesting.
We really enjoyed ourselves and learned way more than we expected; aside from everything we did, we also took time to relax and enjoy the surroundings.
In the end, it was an awesome experience and we recommend it to anyone who has the opportunity to go at this festival, to do it.
